At Fremont Vision Source, we are proud of our doctors who have earned Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry.  Through a process of writing five case reports and defending those case reports during an oral examination, a Fellow of the Academy has been evaluated against the highest standards of professional competence.  Fellowship proves that our doctors are committed to a lifetime of continuing education, staying up to date in the latest treatments and technology, and practicing to the highest level permitted by Nebraska law.

Dr. Amy DeVries

Dr. DeVries joined Fremont Vision Source in 2011. Before moving to Fremont, she practiced optometry in Coralville, Iowa and Independence, Iowa.  She is originally from Canon City, Colorado. Dr. DeVries graduated from Texas Tech University in 2003, cum laude in honors studies with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Dr. DeVries received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry in 2008.  She earned Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry in 2016.

While attending optometry school, Dr. DeVries served as a class officer and was chairperson for the Department of Community Health. She received honors in primary care, pediatrics, and low vision. She completed her optometric internships at the Optometric Center of Los Angeles, the Center for the Partially Sighted in Santa Monica, and the Kaiser Permanente of Baldwin Park. Her training provided her the opportunity to evaluate and manage many complex cases and gain experience in several optometric specialties including ocular disease diagnosis and management,  pediatrics, and contact lenses.

Dr. DeVries is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Nebraska Optometric Association (NOA). She served as the president of the NOA in 2021.  She received the NOA Young OD of the Year Award in 2018, and graduated from the NOA Leadership Institute in 2013.  She serves as a key-contact coordinator for the NOA Political Action Committee.  Dr. DeVries is also a member of the Arlington Eagles Athletic Booster Club and the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce.  She enjoys spending time with her husband, Nathan, and her family and friends.  She also enjoys cooking, traveling, and most of all being a mother to her children, Nyle and Ashlyn.

Dr. Laura Schindler

Dr. Schindler joined Fremont Vision Source in 2012. She is originally from northeast Nebraska.  She earned her undergraduate degree from Mount Marty College, where she played volleyball and was a member of the honors program.  She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 2008. In 2012 she received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Michigan College of Optometry, where she graduated with highest distinction.  She earned Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry in 2015.

While in optometry school, Dr. Schindler was a student ambassador and a member of the Michigan Optometric Association.  As a member of the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists, she traveled to Guyana, South America on a mission trip in 2009.  She completed her internships at Heartland Eye Consultants in Omaha, NE; VA Northern Indiana Health Care System in Fort Wayne, IN; and Henry Ford OptimEyes in Troy, MI. Her internships provided additional training in contact lenses, pediatrics and eye disease—particularly glaucoma.

Dr. Schindler is an active member of the American Optometric Association and Nebraska Optometric Association (NOA). She graduated from the NOA Leadership Institute in 2019.  In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing volleyball, watching Husker football and volleyball, participating in her church’s Moms of Littles group, and spending time with her husband, Skyler, and three children, Sawyer, Eleanor, and Nolan.

Amanda

Amanda joined the team in 2015 as the office manager. She has more than twenty years of experience in client satisfaction and management. Not only is Amanda the office manager, she is also an experienced optician, receptionist, and pretester.

Amanda and her husband, Roy, have six children and three grandchildren. Amanda loves spending time with family and friends, cooking, and golfing.

Jo

Jo joined our team in 2012. She received her paraoptometric certification in May of 2014 and serves as our clinic lead. Jo has lived in the Fremont area for most of her life.

Jo and her husband, Rick, have two children and five grandchildren. In her spare time Jo likes to play golf, go boating, watch football, and attend her grandchildren’s events.

Lisa

Lisa joined our team in 2020 as our receptionist and has since moved into the position of patient care coordinator due to her friendly phone skills and excellent customer service. Lisa and her husband, Tom, have three children and five grandchildren. They love to spend their time with family and friends. Lisa also enjoys camping, gardening and shopping on her days off.

Mike

Mike joined our team in 2018 as an optician. He came to us with experience in customer service and the medical field. Mike and his life partner, Jaime, enjoy taking care of their cats, reading and hanging out with friends and family.

Bobbie

Bobbie joined our team in 2021 as an optician. She is a Fremont native and loves it here. Her passion is helping people. Bobbie is very friendly and enjoys talking with everyone she meets. She also enjoys spending her free time with her family at their cabin in Minnesota or going on weekend adventures. Bobbie has a young son and two dogs which keeps her and her husband very busy.

Carissa

Carissa joined our team in 2021. With experience in customer service and management, she has been a welcome addition to our team. Carissa is cross trained in optical, pretest, and reception.

Carissa’s two boys, Cortland and Ryker, keep her busy with baseball and bowling. As a family they enjoy camping, watching movies, and swimming. In her spare time, she enjoys photography and traveling.

Miranda

Miranda joined our team in 2022 as a receptionist. She has a background in social work and is wonderful with patients. Miranda was born and raised in Fremont and resides here with her boyfriend and three cats. She is family oriented and has three nieces and two nephews that are her world. In her free time, Miranda enjoys crafting, playing darts and spending time with family and friends.
